Step 1: Personalized advising to enroll in class

Attend a New Student Advising & Enrollment Session to ensure your success at MCC! You can get help scheduling yours at 816.604.1000, or an email invitation will be sent so you can choose a session's date and time of your choice.  Learn how to navigate your first semester on campus and build a connection with faculty, staff, administrators, and other students. Build a plan for success and enjoy fun activities. You'll get to know:

  • Your campus, library, learning center and other campus services
  • Campus technology and the student portal and email you'll be using
  • Financial aid navigation
  • Advising resources
  • How joining campus groups and activities can enrich your college experience 

Step 2: Attend your Orientation

At your New Student Orientation you'll:

  • Obtain your student ID and parking pass
  • Find your class locations
  • Learn classroom expectations and MCC's emphasis on course syllabi
  • Discover strategies for time management, finances and success as an MCC student!

Blue River

New Student Orientation - Blue River

New Student Orientation (NSO) is a series of events, activities, and opportunities developed to assist students, both first-year and transfer, and their family members to transition to college or transferring from another institution. At NSO, you will complete essential tasks and gain information that is key to your success at MCC-Blue River. NSO is programmed for the entire block of time, so we ask that you please be prepared to stay for the entire session. If you will need a parking pass, be sure to bring your license plate number and ID with you. After participating in New Student Orientation, students will be able to: -Recognize the importance of making connections with faculty, staff and administrators. -Identify one way they can be actively engaged on campus and how a connection to campus eases the transition to college. -Familiarize themselves with locations of offices and support services available through their campus. (To include but not limited to tutoring, library, CL&L, faculty, police, etc.) -Be able to describe an academic goal and illustrate how it relates to their career goal. If you require special accommodations for the event, please contact the Disability Support Services Office at 816-604-6568. New Student Orientation - Penn Valley

New Student Orientation is a critical time for those students that are new to college or transferring from another institution. At NSO, you will complete essential tasks and gain information that is key to your success at Penn Valley. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. and our event will begin at 9:00 a.m. You can expect to end your day around 1:00 p.m. depending on what tasks you need to accomplish.
